Christina Andujar, Cynthia Garofalo, Charmaine Innis, Barbara Johnson, Carol Mirabile and Jeanne Reilly and were welcomed as Franciscan Associates of the Sisters of St. Francis on Sunday, April 2.

During the commitment ceremony at the Wartburg in Mount Vernon, New York, the six expressed their desire to walk with the sisters as disciples of Christ in the spirit of St. Francis. Sister Helen Hofmann, associate program director, accepted the associates’ commitment. She asked God to bless the pins, which associates will wear as a sign of prayer, service and communion with the Sisters of St. Francis. Frances Acosta and Jenny Echevarria, co-directors of the EC associates, joyfully presented each new associate with her pin and Tau cross pendent.

Seventeen sisters from the St. Elizabeth of Hungary community at the Wartburg welcomed and thanked the new associates for choosing to journey with the Sisters of St. Francis.

The new associates agreed that the commitment was a gift to each of them and that they look forward to journeying together and living the Gospel in the spirit of Sts. Francis and Clare.

The event was a celebration of great joy for all present.
