ST. BONAVENTURE — Sister Margaret Carney chatted on her couch Thursday afternoon, fatigued but otherwise feeling fine while sheltered from the lake-effect snowstorm outside.
The 75-year-old president emeritus of St. Bonaventure University is thankful for getting cancer when she did — shortly after she had announced in January she would step down in the summer. Early transition efforts toward a new presidency had already begun.
