Pope Francis is urging Americans to welcome and protect the thousands of children crossing into the U.S. from Central America.
The Pope drew special attention to the children in a letter to a Vatican conference being held in Mexico City, saying that not only should the children be protected but that the world must promote development in their home countries.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has suggestions for how people living in border communities can help immigrant families.
