Pittsburgh’s Altar in South Carolina

Pittsburgh's Altar Gets Second Life

If the altar and stained-glass windows in the newly-dedicated St. Clare of Assisi Church in South Carolina look familiar, that’s because they are from the chapel in the former Sisters of St Francis region house in Millvale, Pennsylvania!

When we sold the former Mt. Alvernia residence, we were concerned about what would happen to the beautiful altar, saint statues and windows that were such a large part of our history. But the South Carolina diocese parish was thrilled to carry on our legacy by including our beloved altar in the new church under construction.

On Saturday, April 22, the new St. Clare church was dedicated during a magnificent Mass attended by our Leadership team members Sister Pamela Conte and Sister Rita Marie Fritzen. We are blessed to have this fantastic tribute to our Sisters who have ministered in the diocese for over 25 years!
