Portiuncula Foundation

Portiuncula Foundation

The Portiuncula Foundation was founded in 2003 to support efforts that advance health and well-being in the communities where the Sisters of St. Francis live and work. The name, Portiuncula is derived from an Italian word that means “Little Portion.” The foundation manages the restricted gifts and charitable funds to help further the work of God in our ministries and in collaboration with others. Grants are available up to $15,000 to not-for-profit organizations in western Pennsylvania and in areas where the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities minister. The foundation also awards nursing scholarships to one or more students working to obtain a nursing diploma or degree from a Catholic nursing institution.
