From the St. Angela Merici Parish Bulletin 2-6-22
Sister Elisa Bonano teaches Grade 2 in the St. Angela Merici Religious Education Program, preparing the children for sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. She has been ministering at the parish for ten years, focusing also on Adult Faith Formation and RCIA.
She thanks the religious sisters who taught her religion from Grades 7 through 12, and her mom who took her to church, for her deep faith.
Sister Elisa draws spiritual strength from the writings of Sr. Thea Bowman, Servant of God: “If I can help anybody as I pass along, then my living will not be in vain. Let us be practical, reaching out across the boundaries of race and class and status to help somebody, to encourage and affirm somebody, offering to the young an incentive to learn and grow, offering to the downtrodden resources to help themselves.”
Sister Elisa is compelled by her order’s directional statement: “Rooted in the Gospel, we are sisters to all, serving with reverence, justice and compassion.”
We are blessed to have Sr. Elisa Bonano with us here at the parish. Let us pray for her continued ministry and good health
