Planned Giving

What Will Your Legacy Be?

For over 165 years, the Sisters of St. Francis have built a legacy of service and caring for all in need. Join your legacy with ours by planning a gift to the sisters through your will, retirement or estate plans.  By giving through your will or other legacy vehicles, you may be able to make a significant charitable gift that might otherwise be possible during your lifetime.

Wills and Living Trusts

A gift through your will or trust helps ensure that we can continue our mission well into the future and makes a lasting statement about how much our sisters mean to you.

When you include our sisters in your plans, please use our legal name and federal tax ID.

Legal Name:    Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities
Address:             225 Greenfield Pkwy., Suite 208
                                    Liverpool, NY  13088
Federal Tax ID #:  20-4292535

Your attorney can best advise you about articulating your intentions through your will, but here is some sample language:

“I give, devise and bequeath to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation headquartered at 225 Greenfield Pkwy., Suite 208, Liverpool, NY 13088 (Federal Tax ID #20-4292535) the rest, residue and remainder (or state all, a $ amount, or a percentage) to be used for the Sisters’ unrestricted needs.”

Beneficiary Designations

Naming the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy, mutual fund, or annuity is a quick and easy way to make a big difference for our sisters. When you use a beneficiary designation, you simplify estate planning and administration because your assets pass directly to the sisters without court intervention. Your estate may also receive a charitable estate tax deduction. Simply request a beneficiary designation form from your plan administrator, insurance agent or bank representative. Then designate the “Sisters of St Francis of the Neumann Communities” as the primary or contingent beneficiary of the total or a portion of the assets. You can cancel or change your beneficiary designation any time if your circumstances or wishes change.

Qualified Charitable Distributions from an Individual Retirement Account

If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can give an amount up to a maximum of $100.000 per year from your Traditional IRA directly like the Sisters of St. Francis without paying income tax on these funds. Beginning in the year you turn 72, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of your IRA’s annual required minimum distribution (RMD). The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your taxes. And since your gift does not count as income, it can reduce your annual taxable income.

Have you already planned a gift to our Sisters of St. Francis?

If so, we would be honored to recognize you as a member of our Legacy Circle and express our gratitude to you!  Just contact us to let us know your intentions. We will, of course, respect your wishes if you prefer your legacy gift to remain anonymous.
