Bringing Peace to those in Grief

For nine years, Sister Alice Gilabert has been ministering with reverence and compassion to families saying their final goodbyes to loved ones. As the cemetery secretary for St. Aloysius Parish in Springville, New York, Sister Alice manages all burials in the cemetery, from updating cemetery records to selling gravesites and ordering the digging of the graves. It’s a ministry that puts her in direct contact with grieving family members, often as they walk through the cemetery to select a burial plot. “Serving in this ministry, I have learned to walk and talk with reverence and compassion,” she says. “We become sisters to all by our comfort and compassion to those broken in heart and spirit at the time of a loved one’s death.”
